If you really look at how society has changed over the last 30 years, it is amazing.

Everybody is connected to internet these days, nearly everybody has a smartphone, tablet or desktop.

What we forget is what it was like just a few years ago.

I came across this video from the UK where people are showing off their computer.

Do you remember these times, or are you too young?

I was born in 89, so didn't get to enjoy the old tech days of computing. I got into computers late though. My first computer was a commodore 64, which we had for a while until it died. Then I got a Windows 95 PC in like 2000 or 2001 I think. That was the first time I really got to enjoy the internet. We had AOL for a while and I remember it being so cool to be able to chat with people online.

I don't miss dial-up one bit though. Once we got broadband internet, we never looked back.

Then you have indeed missed the beginning of the computer era.

This is how I wrote my first computer programs:

Seems like this was in a previous life.

I remember seeing a few of these as a kid. Not quite the same but similar. Amazing to think how far we have come in such a short amount of time. Just 20 years ago, computers weren't in every home, not everyone had a cell phone, and most people still relied on older tech.

The first computers I worked on did not even have a monitor, they came much later.

This is what such a computer looked like. This one was an IBM 360 series.
