I feel like the media (at least in the US) is using this outbreak to put pressure on Trump and his administration to make him not only look bad but unskilled to run a country when a "pandemic" is happening. How convenient it is for them that it would happen the same year as the elections and that the one who is likely going to be their golden boy is a hair sniffing pedophile with a memory problem.

I couldn't stand Trump for years but after all the crap that people have said and done over him being in the white house and all the ridiculous lies, I support him. I may not like him as a man but I think he is doing better than anyone could have predicted at running the country.

It is not as bad as the media is saying. It is not as bad as people are believing. Yes, it is a new strain but it is a strain of the most common virus in the world that causes colds and flus every year to MILLIONS. People who are at risk of dying are already medically ill with severe medical complications already.

Anyways... What do you guys think on this? Can you see it being used as a political tool?

It seems that way. Like the new stimulus check that is coming. Basically it's been agreed upon that it will get here, but the two sides are arguing over who gets to sign the check, ie. who gets to claim the glory. Pretty sickening if you ask me. The people come first, this is no time for petty ego-tripping.

Everything that happes in the world today is used as a political tool, I think, not just the coronavirus.

If it was meant to discredit Trump, it has backfired, because his approval rating has gone up:

President Donald Trump may be enjoying a small rally in public support as the nation faces the COVID-19 pandemic. Forty-nine percent of U.S. adults, up from 44% earlier this month, approve of the job Trump is doing as president. Trump also had 49% job approval ratings -- the best of his presidency -- in late January and early February around the time of the Senate impeachment trial that resulted in his acquittal.

It seems that way. Like the new stimulus check that is coming. Basically it's been agreed upon that it will get here, but the two sides are arguing over who gets to sign the check, ie. who gets to claim the glory. Pretty sickening if you ask me. I find this far more disgusting. Playing games while the people can't work and don't have money to feed their families.

Like mentioned, everything and anything is used as a tool in the world of politics. I am no republican but I sure as hell am not a democrat. The dems are known for using minorities to up their votes and they do nothing but keep them in a state of living below the poverty line. It pisses me off. Not to mention, it was the dems who wanted to keep slavery going so there is that. Both sides lie and misuse their power but one seems to be focused on keeping the lower class right where they are.

That is a fair call. I mean, really you can see politics in TV shows and movies that don't even pertain to the real world in any way. They might be slight or hidden but they are there. Maybe that is why so many people got so political out of nowhere. Like around 2014/2015, suddenly people that didn't even understand the constitution or how this country is run were giving their opinions on everything. Most of it was from an uneducated standpoint but still.

Knowing history and thinking back to 1918 when the Spanish Flu hit, this is nothing compared to that. I am not sure if it is being used as a political tool or not but it seems strange how everyone is acting as if this is the end of the world. My own brother is doing this.
