Want to start a garden eventually

I've always wanted to take up gardening, but I never end up jumping at the opportunity. I'm thinking that I may give it a try finally this coming spring/summer. Any suggestions for plants that can grow in Michigan? We tend to have mild weather during the summer, so it would need to be a plant that can handle frost and cooler temps. Any suggestions?

I also want to start planting some more trees in my yard. Just want a big yard full of trees and plants.

There are quite a few plants and flowers that will grow up there. Also many varieties of fruits and vegetables will work, even in that cold-ish climate. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, broccoli, cabbage, kale, lettuces, carrots, potatoes, green beans, peas, etc.

Thanks for sharing. :) I need to decide on some spots in my yard to do it, as I want to make sure I have easy access to them when the snow does start to fly again next winter. I won't be able to do anything until spring rolls around anyway.

We started a garden three years ago and love it. We never thought we could do it but now are hooked on it. Green beans are my favorite, so we plant tons of those to eat fresh and freeze for the year. We also do tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce, squash, cabbage, and more. This year we plan on doing asparagus too. I cannot wait as it is so much fun to garden!
