Donald Trump walks away from impeachment

I can't say that it comes as a surprise, but the impeachment that never was is over.

President Trump has been acquitted by the Senate on both articles of impeachment, ensuring that he will not be removed from office after he was impeached by House Democrats.

As it's all a political game, the procedure has very little to do with determining if he is guilty of misusing his power to discredit political opponents.

What do you think? Is Donald Trump guilty or innocent?

In my opinion (and this is just my opinion, others may have a more educated view) there was not enough evidence to warrant him being removed from office regardless of his political party. The Democrats knew that they had a zero percent chance of winning the vote, it was all for show. They wanted to at least show the American people that "they tried" their best to get him out of there.

We agree that is was all for the show, but have the Democrats shot themselves in the foot in doing so?

From what I read Donald Trump is more popular then ever and the Democrats seem more divided than ever.

So, you could argue that the impeachment procedure has ensured Trump's victory at the election.

It's still early days, but I think that is a real possibilty.

You're right he is doing slightly better now in the polls than he was before the whole impeachment thing. But I'm still not sold that he will be re-elected yet. He is still losing by a decent bit in the polls head-to-head with top Democrat candidates like Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, and Elizabeth Warren. I'm not saying he will have to win the popular vote (he lost to Clinton by 3 million votes nationwide in 2016), but I think the media will still be on Trump's ass (pardon the language) from now until election day.
